The Cincinnati, OH VA Medical Center is looking for well-qualified Physicians to fill full time Physician positions located within the Primary Care Department. Work Schedule: Monday-Friday, 8 a.m. - 4:30 p.m. This vacancy announcement is being used to recruit for the below physician positions however if other full time Physicians become vacant within the Primary Care department this announcement can be used to fill those vacancies as well. The Float Physician will: Provide interim coverage for primary care physician vacancies and physicians on extended leave; Provide primary care to a panel of patients as a member of a team including an RN, LPN, and clerical assistant; Provide care to patients with acute and chronic health problems; Provide preventative medical care including screening and vaccinations; Provide assistance to personnel on other primary care teams when the team provider is absent; and Be aware of performance monitors and expectations regarding preventative measures, screening, and treatment of chronic diseases including diabetes, hypertension, cardiac disease, and hyperlipidemia. The duties and responsibilities include, but are not limited to the following: Provide ongoing medical care consistent with hospital policy to patients with acute and chronic health problems. Partner with community physicians, inpatient physicians, and the emergency department to provide coordination and continuity of care. Work as a team with services including pharmacy, social work, mental health, and nutrition to provide comprehensive care. Refer patients to specialists when additional input is desired and required for symptom and disease management. Provide preventative medical care including screening and vaccinations. Refer to specialists when additional input is desired and required for symptom and disease management. Possess excellent communication skills, be able to elicit cooperation from others, and develop positive relationships with primary care (PACT) team members and hospital staff. This includes interacting in person, via email, phone, medical chart, and other forms of communication. Collaborate with mental health and specialty personnel in the ongoing management of mutual patients. Monitor team performance to assess adherence to VA standards, assure quality and effectiveness of care, and meet VA performance measures. Respond to patient inquiries that arise from daily practice, through the Patient Advocate, through the Front Office, and by Congressional action. Participate in administrative duties including peer review, hospital committees, performance improvement, and other duties as assigned. Provide outstanding customer service, utilizing the VA ICARE (Integrity, Respect, Excellence) principles and maintaining professional behavior and attitude at all times. Other duties as assigned.
