The Central Arkansas Veterans Healthcare System (CAVHS) is pleased to announce an opening for a full-time physician with training and experience in the field of palliative medicine and hospice care. The qualified candidate will join our interdisciplinary team at the John L. McClellan Memorial Veterans Hospital on the Little Rock Campus (primary duty station) and the Eugene J. Towbin Healthcare Center on the North Little Rock Campus. The selected physician will provide palliative care consultations in inpatient, outpatient, and telehealth settings, and provide inpatient hospice care in Hospice and Palliative Care (HPC) Unit on the Little Rock Campus. The physician will participate in other activities in the Section of Palliative Care in the Department of Internal Medicine including teaching of medical students, house staff, palliative medicine fellows. The selectee will work closely with the interdisciplinary Palliative Care Team to coordinate patient care and will participate in joint educational, team care and administrative activities. The physician will have the opportunity to have an adjunct academic position with the University of Arkansas for Medical Sciences (UAMS) Division of Palliative Medicine. Key aspects of position: - Hospice and Palliative Medicine Board eligibility/certification is a requirement. Board eligible candidates will be expected to pursue board certification in the first 2 years of employment. - CAVHS is affiliated with academic partner University of Arkansas for Medical Sciences. - CAVHS is a tertiary care medical center with a complex and high acuity patient population. - Well-established Hospice/Palliative Care program in place for 20 years. - The Hospice/Palliative Care Unit has 8 beds. - Comprised of collegial faculty and interdisciplinary group. Work Schedule: Monday - Friday; 8am - 4:30pm + one weekend/month On-Call: All full-time physicians are subject to recall 24/7. This position will take rotating call based on staffing needs. Financial Disclosure Report: Not required Other important information: Pay: Competitive salary, may be eligible for annual performance bonus, typically eligible for regular salary increases. Paid Time Off: Annual leave at the rate of eight (8) hours per biweekly pay period; Sick leave at the rate of four (4) hours per biweekly pay period; 10 paid Federal holidays per year. Retirement: Traditional federal pension (5 years' vesting) and federal 401K with up to 5% in contributions by VA. Insurance: Federal health/vision/dental/term life/long-term care (many federal insurance programs can be carried into retirement) CME: Possible $1,000 per year stipend + possible 1 week paid authorized absence to attend. Malpractice: Free liability protection with tail coverage provided. Contract: No Physician Employment Contract and no significant restriction on moonlighting.
